Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren today held a formal meeting with Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy at the Chief Minister’s residence. The meeting focused on key issues related to coal mines in the state and ways to address challenges in the sector.
The discussion took place in the presence of senior officials from the state government, the Ministry of Coal, and subsidiaries of Coal India Limited. Both leaders emphasized the importance of cooperation between the central and state governments to ensure that pending issues related to coal mining are resolved effectively. CM Soren stressed that joint efforts are required to promote the growth and operational efficiency of the mining sector in Jharkhand.

Mineral royalties and timely collection for the state
Land acquisition for coal mining projects

Return of land after completion of mining work
Safety standards and control measures for incidents arising from illegal mining
Utilization of DMFT and CSR funds for community and development projects
Officials agreed on taking positive steps to resolve these issues promptly, ensuring that mining projects operate smoothly while benefiting local communities.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including CM’s Additional Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Additional Secretary Sanjay Lohia (Ministry of Mines), Additional Secretary Sanoj Kumar Jha (Ministry of Coal), Revenue Secretary Chandrashekhar, Secretary of Mines and Geology Arwa Rajkamal, Director of Mines Rahul Sinha, and senior executives from Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries: Chairman P.M. Prasad, CMD of CCL Nilendu Kumar Singh, CMD of BCCL Manoj Agarwal, CMD of Hindustan Copper Sanjeev Kumar Singh, as well as PS to Union Coal Minister Pankaj Jain and other officials.
The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding that continuous collaboration between the state and central authorities is essential to address mining-related challenges, improve operational efficiency, promote employment, and ensure sustainable development in Jharkhand’s coal sector.
