Jamshedpur. On the occasion of National Sports Day, the National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) witnessed a grand inauguration of a three-day Sports Festival. The event began with an oath-taking ceremony in the presence of NML Director Dr. Sandeep Ghosh Chowdhury and Controller of Administrator Shri Jay Shankar Sharan.
In his address, Dr. Chowdhury fondly remembered the legendary hockey player, Major Dhyan Chand, whose birthday is celebrated as National Sports Day across the country. He encouraged all employees to draw inspiration from the hockey wizard’s discipline, dedication, and sporting spirit. He further emphasized that “a healthy workforce is the backbone of any institution,” urging colleagues to dedicate at least one hour daily to physical fitness and wellbeing.
As part of the festival, several sporting events including a marathon and tug of war were held, attracting enthusiastic participation from employees. The vibrant atmosphere reflected unity, teamwork, and the joy of sports. The NML Staff Club took charge of organizing the event with meticulous planning and coordination. Winners of the competitions were felicitated with trophies and certificates, handed over by the Controller of Administrator.
The event was not only a celebration of sports but also a reminder of the importance of fitness in professional and personal life. Employees actively participated, cheering for their teams and celebrating the true spirit of National Sports Day.
The success of the three-day festival was attributed to the collective efforts of the organizing team. Special appreciation was extended to Staff Club President Dr. Sandeep Ghosh Chowdhury, Vice President Dr. Sanjay Agarwal, Secretary Parmarth Suman, Administrator Controller Shri Jay Shankar Sharan, Vijay Anand Mukhi, Santosh Rai, Rohit Modi, Administrative Officer Viplav Vishal, and other staff members whose contribution ensured the smooth execution of the program.
