Jamshedpur, : Tata Steel organised closing ceremony of “High Rise Rope Rescue Training” programme conducted by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) for Tata steel Fire Responders from October 5 to 7.

Mr Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel and Mr Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, President Tata Workers’ Union (TWU), graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. Mr Hari Shankar Singh, Treasurer TWU and Mr. Alok Kumar, Deputy Commandant NDRF also graced the occasion.

Mr Chanakya Chaudhary appreciated the effort of Chief Security and Brand Protection office for organising this training programme. He emphasised that although company has robust process safety system in-place, but still emergency can occur due to various reasons like toxic gas leakage, fire in high-rise structure, natural calamities etc. Fire department should always be prepared to respond effectively and efficiently for such situations. He advised to practice the learnings from this training programme.

Mr Gopal Prasad Choudhary, Chief Security & Brand Protection, Tata Steel apprised the guests about the relevance of this three-day long specialised training programme.

He informed that based on the recommendation of Off-Site Mock Drill held on February 24, 2021 near Hotel Ginger at Bistupur, district administration had requested Tata Steel to organise specialised High Rise Rescue operation training for Fire Personnel, so that before the arrival of NDRF team, fire responders can do rescue operation. Total 21 responders of fire brigade participated in the training Programme.

The training programme was launched on October 5 at WGO Conference Hall which was attended by Mr. Vijay Sinha, Commandant NDRF, Mr Alok Kumar, Deputy Commandant NDRF and other faculty members from NDRF and TSL Fire Trainees.

To enhance the capability of Tata Steel Fire Responder from High Rise structures, regular Mock Drill will be organised with NDRF team at the Tata Steel Works. Based on the learnings from training programme, equipment will be procured which will be used for High Rise Rescue operations.

Mr Alok Kumar, Deputy Commandant NDRF praised the initiative taken by Tata Steel to train Fire Responders on this. He emphasised on regular practices of Rope Rescue Techniques.

Mr Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, President TWU praised this initiative of imparting training to fire personnel. He emphasised that for security and fire personnel, a training academy should be developed so that in-house training capability can be enhanced.
