In a significant step towards strengthening the industrial ecosystem of Eastern India, the VDMA East India Meet – Indo-European Business Forum was organized on Friday at a city hotel in Jamshedpur. The forum brought together representatives of leading German and European technology companies with local manufacturing industries to explore opportunities for technical collaboration, investment, and long-term partnerships.
The event highlighted Jamshedpur’s growing importance as an industrial hub and aimed at fostering closer ties between Indian and European engineering and manufacturing sectors.

Focus on Indo-European Industrial Cooperation
The chief guest of the programme was Mrs. Barbara Boss, Consul General of the German Consulate General in Kolkata. Inder Agrawal, President of the Adityapur Small Industries Association (ASIA), attended the event as the guest of honour.
During the opening session, Rajesh Nath, Managing Director of VDMA India, elaborated on the objectives of the forum. He stated that the VDMA East India Meet was designed to strengthen technological cooperation, promote investment, and build sustainable partnerships between Indian and European industries.
Rajesh Nath emphasized that Germany and several European nations view India as a strategic industrial partner. He pointed out that Eastern India, in particular, holds immense potential in manufacturing, automation, and advanced engineering technologies. Platforms like this forum help local industries connect with global technology, international quality standards, and innovation-driven solutions.
Opportunities for Local Industries
Speaking on the occasion, Inder Agrawal, President of ASIA, stressed the need to further strengthen industrial ties between India and Europe. He said such forums provide entrepreneurs from the Adityapur industrial area an opportunity to access global markets and adopt advanced technologies.
Local entrepreneur Praveen Gutgutiya added that events like these can generate new employment opportunities and enable small and medium enterprises to supply their products to international markets, thereby enhancing competitiveness.
Strengthening India–Germany Relations
Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Barbara Boss said that India–Germany relations are currently at their strongest phase. She noted that cooperation between the two countries extends beyond trade and engineering to include investment, technology transfer, education, and industrial development.
She also highlighted the active role played by organizations such as VDMA, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, the German Embassy, and the German Consulate General in supporting Indian and German businesses in identifying investment and trade opportunities.
Advanced Technologies on Display
The forum focused on promoting innovation and business collaboration within the engineering sector. Detailed presentations were made on advancements in automation, tools, warehouse systems, sensor technology, cutting solutions, power transmission, and wear protection.
Renowned companies such as Emerson Automation Solutions, Hoffmann Quality Tools India, Jungheinrich Lift Truck India, Leuze Electronic, Messer Cutting Systems India, Ringfeder Power Transmission India, and Vautid India showcased their latest industrial technologies and solutions.
The event was organized by VDMA India with special support from the Adityapur Small Industries Association, and witnessed participation from a large number of industrialists, entrepreneurs, and technical experts from across Eastern India.
