The Sonari police have cracked the sensational snatching incident that took place near Dobo Pul, arresting two accused within hours with the help of CCTV footage and the motorcycle number. Police also recovered the stolen gold locket from Sakchi, bringing relief to the victim as well as the local residents.

The incident occurred late Wednesday night when Naveen Kumar, a truck driver from Nawada district of Bihar, had come to Jamshedpur. He had parked his truck near Dobo Pul to relieve himself. Just as he was about to climb back into his vehicle, two motorcycle-borne criminals approached him. One of them suddenly jumped into the truck cabin and snatched the gold locket (tabeez) from the driver’s neck before fleeing the spot at high speed.
A shocked and panicked Naveen rushed to the Sonari police station and lodged a formal complaint. Acting swiftly, the police examined CCTV footage from the nearby areas. During the review, they managed to identify the motorcycle number plate used by the criminals. Based on this lead, police tracked down and arrested the culprits within a short span of time.
The arrested snatchers have been identified as Vicky Singh, a resident of Golmuri Circus Maidan, and Hardeep Singh, a resident of Bajrang Nagar, Golmuri. During interrogation, both confessed to committing the crime. They further revealed that the stolen locket had been hidden in the Sakchi area. Acting on their information, police recovered the gold locket weighing about 3 grams.
Addressing a press conference at the SSP office on Thursday, the DSP informed that both accused have a long criminal history and have been jailed multiple times earlier. “With the help of the bike registration number and CCTV surveillance, the case was solved in record time,” the DSP added.
