Jamshedpur: A horrific road accident took place on Monday afternoon at the TMH Roundabout in Bistupur, one of the busiest intersections in the city. A youth riding a motorcycle lost his life after being hit by a fire engine. The fatal incident caused panic in the area, severely disrupting traffic for a considerable time. The deceased has been identified as Md. Husam Akhtar, a resident of PB Road, Jugsalai.
Bike Loses Control, Rammed Under Fire Engine
According to eyewitnesses and received information, Md. Husam Akhtar was heading towards the United Club on his motorcycle. At the exact same time, a fire engine was approaching from the opposite direction towards Bistupur. As both vehicles reached near the TMH Roundabout, they suddenly came face-to-face. During this crucial moment, the motorcycle lost control and rammed straight under the heavy fire engine. The youth was caught under the massive wheels of the vehicle, sustaining critical crush injuries.
Succumbs to Injuries at Hospital, Family Devastated
The horrifying accident immediately drew a large crowd of passersby. Local residents quickly informed the police and rushed to rescue the trapped youth. With the joint efforts of the police and locals, the profusely bleeding victim was pulled out from under the fire engine and hurriedly rushed to the nearby Tata Main Hospital (TMH) in an auto-rickshaw.
Despite the prompt initiation of medical treatment by the doctors, his life could not be saved due to severe internal and external injuries. He breathed his last during the treatment. The news of his tragic demise sent shockwaves through his family, who rushed to the hospital and were left completely devastated, weeping inconsolably.

Police Investigation Underway, Road Safety Questioned
Following the incident, the Bistupur police took swift action and seized both the damaged motorcycle and the fire engine. Bistupur Police Station In-charge Alok Kumar Dubey stated that a thorough investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the collision. Legal procedures for sending the body for a post-mortem examination are currently underway.
This heartbreaking tragedy has once again raised serious concerns regarding road safety, traffic management, and the hazards of speeding at highly congested intersections like the TMH Roundabout. Local residents have strongly demanded stricter traffic control measures from the authorities to prevent such fatal accidents in the future.
