The late Tuesday night shooting incident at Khadiya Basti under the Ulidih OP area in Jamshedpur has taken a sensational and tragic turn. Devdas Gaur, a resident of Rajnagar who was injured in the incident, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital. Initially, it was reported that the bullet merely grazed his neck, but his condition severely deteriorated, ultimately leading to his death. With his passing, the case has now been officially registered as a murder.

A Drunken Gathering Turns Fatal
Preliminary police investigations have clearly revealed that Devdas Gaur was with his associates at the time of the incident, and everyone was heavily intoxicated. A sudden, heated argument broke out among them. The dispute escalated to such a level that his friend, Devashish Poddar, fired a shot at Devdas. During the search of the crime scene at Khadiya Basti, the police recovered four liquor glasses, deep blood stains, and other crucial evidence. These findings confirm that a drinking party was going on right before the fatal gunshot was fired.
Contradictory Statements and Police Interrogation
Immediately after the incident, Devdas was rushed to MGM Hospital by his associates Devashish Poddar, Neeraj Pradhan, and ASI Pankaj Kumar (posted at RIT police station). The police promptly detained them for questioning. MGM police station in-charge Sachin Das stated that from the very beginning, all three individuals were continuously changing their statements. Their contradictory remarks, coupled with their intoxicated state, raised strong suspicions. Upon strict interrogation, the truth unraveled: it was not an outsider, but Devashish Poddar himself who pulled the trigger.
Weapon and Land Documents Recovered
Following the rigorous interrogation, police recovered the weapon used in the crime—a country-made pistol (desi katta)—based on the exact location provided by the main accused, Devashish Poddar. Additionally, the case took another crucial twist when police found some important land-related documents from the Kapali area. Investigators are now seriously probing this new angle to determine if an old land dispute was the actual motive behind this bloody conflict among friends.

Case Upgraded to Murder, Probe Intensified
With the tragic death of Devdas Gaur, the police have intensified their legal action and registered an FIR under murder charges against the accused. The Jamshedpur police are thoroughly investigating all possible angles of this shooting incident to bring the absolute truth to light, especially regarding the connection of the recovered land documents to the murder.
