Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy conducted an extensive tour of various localities across Sonari and Kadma on Friday. During this mass contact initiative, he interacted directly with the local residents to understand their basic civic issues and assured them of prompt and solid solutions. The tour commenced at Joggers Park in Sonari, where morning walkers honored the MLA by draping a shawl around him and highly appreciated the public welfare work being carried out in the constituency.

Complaints of Garbage Dumps and Shoddy Paver Block Work
After meeting the citizens at Joggers Park, Saryu Roy visited Nirmal Basti, Panchavati Nagar, and Jahira Basti in Sonari. Residents of Nirmal Basti pointed out multiple garbage dumps in the area, complaining that waste had not been cleared for several days, leading to a lack of basic sanitation.
In Jahira Basti, locals raised serious concerns regarding the ongoing installation of new paver blocks. They demonstrated to the MLA that the blocks were not being laid correctly. Due to the use of an insufficient amount of sand, the paver blocks were unstable, shaking, and moving up and down when walked upon, highlighting poor construction quality.
Water Crisis and Poor Chhath Ghat Construction in Kadma
Continuing his inspection, Saryu Roy reached Panchavati Nagar, where residents were facing immense difficulties due to incomplete drain construction, with open pits left unattended. The locals also raised a severe complaint against JUSCO (TSUISL), stating that water supply has been completely halted in several parts of the locality. Meanwhile, women from the nearby Balram Bhattha area also approached the MLA to share their civic woes.
Upon reaching Shastri Nagar and the lower settlements near Santoshi Mata Temple in Kadma, residents complained about receiving contaminated and dirty water from the local handpumps. Furthermore, they drew attention to the poor construction of the local Chhath Ghat. Residents pointed out that the gap between the stairs of the ghat is too steep, causing massive inconvenience to devotees and the elderly while climbing up and down.

Issue Raised with Deputy Commissioner for a Permanent Solution
After carefully listening to the serious grievances of the settlement dwellers, Saryu Roy assured the public of swift action. He informed the residents that he had personally met the District Deputy Commissioner just a day prior to discuss the sheer reluctance of authorities in providing proper water and electricity connections to these settlements.
The MLA strongly urged the Deputy Commissioner to convene an urgent joint meeting involving the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) and TSUISL (JUSCO) management to permanently resolve these pressing civic issues. The Deputy Commissioner has assured him that a joint meeting will be called very soon to address the public’s concerns.
During this extensive tour, the MLA was accompanied by public convenience representatives and prominent locals, including Mukul Mishra, Uttam Kumar, Babu Singh, Naresh Bagti, Pradeep Singh, Ajit Singh, Bhim Singh, Manoj Singh, Tarak Mukherjee, KP Singh, and Sandeep Singh.
