Jamshedpur: Panic gripped the Jemco Mishra Bagan area under the Telco police station limits on Friday evening after unidentified criminals resorted to indiscriminate firing. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported in the incident.
As soon as the information was received, the local police immediately reached the spot, took control of the situation, and recovered three empty bullet shells (khokha) from the scene. According to reports, the firing took place at around 8:00 PM.
Criminals Fired Three Rounds and Fled
According to eyewitnesses present at the scene, two criminals arrived on a motorcycle. Before anyone could understand what was happening, they suddenly fired three rounds into the air and swiftly fled the spot under the cover of darkness. The sudden sound of gunfire caused chaos and a stampede-like situation in the locality, leaving the residents in a state of shock and fear.
Land Dispute Suspected as the Motive
Preliminary police investigations suggest that the firing is closely linked to an ongoing land dispute. Sources reveal that there has been a lingering tension and conflict between two local factions over a piece of land in the Mishra Bagan area for the past several days. It is strongly suspected that Friday’s violent incident was executed as a fallout of this very rivalry to establish dominance.

Proximity to JMM Office Raises Security Concerns
Adding to the tension is the fact that an office of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is situated right next to the incident spot. The brazen display of firearms in such a populated area and near a political office has severely heightened security concerns among the local residents, who are now demanding stricter police patrolling and immediate arrest of the culprits.
The Telco police are currently investigating the matter, scanning nearby CCTV footage to identify the bike-borne criminals, and questioning locals to trace the roots of the land dispute.
