Jamshedpur, The closing ceremony of the Ethics Month 2020 was held today through a virtual platform. The theme for the Ethics Month 2020 was “Responsible Me, Responsible We”. The day marked the end of a month-long celebration to reinforce Tata Steel`s commitment to ethics.
The occasion was graced by S. Padmanabhan, Executive Chairman of Tata Business Excellence Group and Head of Ethics, T. V. Narendran, CEO & MD, Tata Steel, and R Rabi Prasad, President, Tata Workers’ Union along with other senior officials from Tata Steel and its group companies.
Speaking on the occasion, S. Padmanabhan appreciated the efforts of Tata Steel and other Tata group companies on the way they have responded to the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic. He expressed that as an entity, Tata group has been responsible and resilient to ensure that the benefits of various group-led welfare initiatives reach out to the society at large. He congratulated Tata Steel on winning the Ethisphere award, for the ninth time, which is a testimony to the Company’s commitment to its strong ethical value system.
V. Narendran reiterated that the biggest asset for Tata Group and Tata Steel is the strong value system. He said that adherence to the value system and high ethical standards is what will make Tata Steel sustainable in the longer run.
R Rabi Prasad spoke on the importance of maintaining a good behaviour at all times with the need to strongly discourage non-ethical activities. He also emphasised on collective working to ensure reinforcement of trust and pride in Tata values.
Every year, the month of July is celebrated in Tata Steel as the Ethics Month in keeping with the tradition of inculcating ethical practices in the workplace. This year, various competitions were organised such as short movie contest, storytelling and Jingle contest, photography contest, online quiz and slogan contest. In addition to these events, Ethics Zone, Ethical dilemma- “Ab Kya Karein”, webinars, discussions, debate competition and an online musical event were also organised to reinforce the value of ethics amongst the employees. Inter-company competitions were also organised among Tata Steel group companies, where employees participated with lot of enthusiasm.
In view of the prevalent COVID-19 pandemic situation, most of the events were conducted online.
In the centrally organised competitions engaging employees across locations of Tata Steel, more than 1700 employees participated in the month-long quiz competition, besides an overwhelming participation in other online events. An ethical dilemma discussion portal “Kashmakash” was launched during CEO & MD online on August 3, 2020
