Earnings from media rights go towards charity
ColomboSri Lanka Greats XI and Team Sri Lanka will play a charity T20 match on 4th May, 2021 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium to raise funds to fight the on-going Covid-19 crisis in the country.
The funds raised from rights fees of the game will be directed to help Sri Lanka’s response towards fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. Dubai-based Innovative Production Group (IPG) have bagged the on-ground production and sponsorship rights for the match. Sports News App – Dafa News are the title sponsor for the game.
Sri Lanka Greats XI is led by Sanath Jayasuriy while Hashan Tilakaratne is the coach-cum-player of the team. The Greats XI also comprises many former legendary Sri Lankan cricketers including many from the team which won the 1996 Cricket World Cup. Dasun Shanaka is the captain of Team Sri Lanka and it comprises players representing the current national side, emerging and development squads of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
Arvinda de Silva, Farveez Maharoof, Upul Chandana, Upul Tharanga, Nuwan Kulasekera and Chamara Silva are some of the players who will feature in Sri Lanka Greats XI side among others. Kusal Perera, Thisara Perera, Isuru Udana and Avishka Fernando are some of the players who will feature in Team Sri Lanka among others.
The T20 game will commence at 07.00 pm and will be broadcast Live both in Sri Lanka and overseas.
