Jamshedpur :Tata Steel garners trio of esteemed awards at 18th CII-ITC Sustainability Awards

New Delhi/Jamshedpur: Tata Steel garnered three prestigious accolades at the 18th CII-ITC Sustainability Awards 2023, reaffirming its leadership in responsible and sustainable business practices. These awards mark a significant milestone in Tata Steel’s journey towards sustainability excellence. The awards were received by Tata Steel in New Delhi on March 19, 2024.

The first award, the Commendation for Significant Achievement in Corporate Excellence, underscores Tata Steel’s unwavering commitment to infusing sustainability principles throughout its operations. This recognition encompasses company’s environmental stewardship, robust safety culture, responsible resource management practices, and community development initiatives. The award was received by Koustuv Kakati,  Head Regulatory Affairs (Trade & Economy), Tata Steel.

Additionally, Tata Steel was honoured with two awards for Excellence in Biodiversity, recognizing the exemplary biodiversity management plans implemented at its Noamundi Iron Mine and Ferro Alloys and Manganese Division (FAMD). These awards highlight Tata Steel’s dedication to habitat enhancement, reclamation and restoration efforts, and other sustainability initiatives aimed at preserving biodiversity.  The Noamundi Iron Mine award was received by Shirish Shekhar, Chief Noamundi Iron Mine, Tata Steel and Sanjay Das, General Secretary, Noamundi Mazdoor Union, while the award for FAMD was received by Devraj Tiwari, Head Mining, Sukinda, Tata Steel.

Tata Steel’s outstanding performance at the awards underscores the company’s holistic approach to reduce GHG emissions and fresh water consumption, safety, responsible resource management, conserving biodiversity, and community development. These efforts align with Tata Steel’s vision of fostering a more sustainable future for the steel industry and beyond.
