Commenting on the recognition, T V Narendran, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Steel, said: “At Tata Steel, sustainability is embedded in the way we operate – from improving resource efficiency and advancing low-carbon technologies to creating long-term value for communities and stakeholders. Being one of the only two companies to be recognised as Steel Sustainability Champions for the ninth consecutive year is a strong validation of our commitment to responsible and sustainable steelmaking.”

To qualify as a Sustainability Champion, companies must meet stringent criteria, including signing the worldsteel Sustainability Charter and demonstrating strong performance across key sustainability indicators. These include material efficiency, environmental management systems, safety performance, employee training, investments in innovative technologies, and economic value distribution.
