JAMSHEDPUR
The sacred Surya Dham in Sidgora, Jamshedpur, came alive with chants of “Bol Bam” and overwhelming devotion as thousands of Shiva devotees offered Gangajal from the northward-flowing Ganga in Sultanganj to Lord Bholenath. The event marked the third Shravan Monday, organized by Surya Mandir Committee with grandeur, devotion, and community spirit.
Former Chief Minister Raghubar Das, the chief patron of the temple committee, joined the barefoot procession carrying Gangajal and performed Jalabhishek at the Surya Dham Shiv Mandir. He extended heartfelt wishes for prosperity and well-being to the people of Jamshedpur and Jharkhand and expressed his gratitude to the spiritually awakened citizens and women devotees.

The procession began at Hari Mandir Ground in Baridih, where 11 priests led a sanctification ritual of the Gangajal. Devotees, dressed in saffron, walked with flags and sang devotional music amid floral showers, horses, and band processions. By 8:30 AM, thousands had performed Jalabhishek using a specially built Argha, replicating the system at Baidyanath Dham.
The arrangements included barricading for crowd control, shaded rest spots, drinking water kiosks, and medical aid camps with ambulance support. Around 200 Surya Dham Sevaks and police forces ensured smooth coordination and safety.
A grand tableau, floral showers, and a massive Shivling enthralled the crowd. More than 25,000 devotees received Prasad, served from 20 food and 15 water counters. Women had a dedicated Prasad counter. The menu included Khichdi, Sabzi, and Kheer.
Former CM Raghubar Das called the Yatra an “unimaginable spiritual spectacle of unity, devotion, and faith” and praised the initiative of using Ganga water from Sultanganj for local devotees. Surya Mandir Committee patron Chandragupt Singh expressed gratitude to volunteers, BJP workers, social groups, and all devotees who contributed.
Numerous volunteers including Lakshmikant Singh, Akhilesh Chaudhary, Sushant Panda, Amarjeet Singh Raja, Ruby Jha, and many others made commendable contributions to the successful organization.
