
Jamshedpur — The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur successfully concluded a five-day national workshop titled “Advances in Manufacturing and Processing Technology in the Context of Industry and Its Challenges” (AMPTIC-2025) on Sunday, with a grand closing ceremony.

The valedictory session began at 10:00 AM in Room 112 of DJLHC. The event commenced with the traditional welcome of the guests by offering floral bouquets, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and Saraswati Vandana.
Dr. Reena Sahu, Head of the Department, chaired the session and presented a concise report on the workshop. She also shared participant feedback, highlighting the success and positive impact of the event.
Prof. (Dr.) Gautam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur, delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the importance of research, innovation, and sustainable technological development. Prof. R. V. Sharma, Deputy Director, spoke about the significance of such workshops in enriching technical education and building industry-ready professionals.
The event was graced by Mr. Ramesh Shankar, Chief of Merchant Mill and New Bar Mill at Tata Steel, as the chief guest. He shared valuable insights on real-world industrial challenges and highlighted the crucial role academic institutions play in bridging the gap between theory and practice.
During the ceremony, participation certificates and mementos were distributed to all attendees. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Binay Kumar, and the event concluded with the national anthem.
Throughout the week-long workshop, the participants—comprising academicians, researchers, and students from across India—engaged in various enriching sessions. The program included 10 invited expert lectures, departmental lab visits, a cultural evening, and an industrial tour to Tata Motors, offering hands-on exposure and knowledge sharing.
AMPTIC-2025 served as a vital platform to foster dialogue between academia and industry. It encouraged the exchange of ideas, highlighted ongoing challenges, and opened new avenues for innovation and collaborative development in the field of materials and manufacturing technology.
