Assassinated at Close Range: The Midnight Horror
The victim, identified as GK Meena, a resident of Adityapur, was reportedly heading towards the Loco Pilot Lobby Gate around midnight. According to eyewitnesses, two assailants on a motorcycle intercepted him. Before he could react, one of the criminals opened fire at point-blank range, hitting him directly in the forehead.
Meena collapsed on the spot in a pool of blood. Local bystanders rushed him to the Railway Hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. The brazen nature of the attack, occurring in a high-security railway zone, has sent shockwaves through Jamshedpur.
Contract Killing? The Land and Tender Dispute Angle
While GK Meena was a railway employee, he was also deeply involved in real estate and civil contracting. Investigation sources suggest he held a significant stake in railway parking contracts and land leveling projects related to the station’s expansion.
Speculations are rife that his interest in several upcoming multi-million railway tenders might have made him a target for rival groups. The police are currently investigating if a professional rivalry in the contracting business led to this cold-blooded execution.
Police Investigation: CCTV and Forensic Evidence
City SP Lalit Meena reached the crime scene shortly after the incident with a heavy police contingent. Forensic teams have recovered a used cartridge from the spot.
“We are exploring all angles, including professional rivalry in land deals and railway contracts. Multiple teams have been formed to track the killers. We are scanning CCTV footage from the station perimeter and exit routes to identify the bike and the suspects,” said the City SP.

Security Concerns at Tatanagar Station
Local residents and railway unions have raised serious concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation near the Lobby Gate. The area is reportedly becoming a hub for anti-social elements after dark. This murder has highlighted the lack of adequate patrolling in the railway’s expanded peripheral zones.
