Jamshedpur:
Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy has written a letter to the State Home and Jail Minister urging him to put pressure on the Government of India to expedite the extradition process of Dhanbad gangster Mohammad Haider Ali alias Prince Khan, who is currently taking refuge in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai).
In his letter, Roy mentioned that the Jharkhand Home Department, through letter no. 5576 dated October 9, 2023, had requested the Government of India to initiate the extradition process for Prince Khan. Acting upon this, the Union Home Ministry issued directions to the CPV Division (Extradition Section) to take necessary action. However, even after two years, no progress has been made, allowing Prince Khan’s criminal network to spread across multiple districts of Jharkhand.
Roy stated that earlier, the gangster’s activities were limited to Dhanbad, but now his terror has expanded to Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Bokaro, and other regions. He revealed that several businessmen and doctors from his constituency (Jamshedpur West) and from Ranchi have received extortion calls from Prince Khan through unknown numbers. The gangster has allegedly demanded ransom amounts ranging from ₹2 crore to ₹5 crore, and his men have even fired shots outside business establishments to create fear among those who refuse to pay.
The MLA reminded the minister that he had raised this issue during the Winter Session of the Jharkhand Assembly in 2023 through a notice of special mention. At that time, the government had assured the House that Prince Khan would be brought back to India through the Union Government’s intervention and that strict legal action would be taken against him and his gang. However, to date, neither the extradition has been completed nor any decisive action has been taken against his network.
Roy emphasized that the growing influence of Prince Khan has created panic among traders and medical professionals, who now fear for their safety. He requested the Home Minister to take up the matter at the highest level with the Central Government to ensure Prince Khan’s swift extradition to India and to initiate strong legal action against him and his associates. Roy added that such action is vital to restore law and order and eliminate the growing sense of fear among citizens.
