Jamshedpur, Oct 13 (BJNN) Janata Dal (United) legislator Saryu Roy on Monday appealed the Jharkhand Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari to constitute an efficient Monitoring Committee to ensure proper functioning of government-run MGM Hospital here.
A 750-bed capacity building of the hospital developed at a cost of Rs. 375 crores was inaugurated in October last year.
In a letter to Ansari today, former Jharkhand Minister Roy alleged that the health department had put the Jharkhand Chief Minister in dark and inaugurated the new hospital building in haste just before state assembly poll to drive political mileage.
The hospital management, patients and their family members were bearing the brunt of the loopholes, he said.
Even a year after the inauguration of new building, Roy regretted that the hospital could not be shifted from old building to new building successfully.
JD(U)legislator expressed apprehension that if an efficient monitoring committee was not formed to ensure smooth functioning of the hospital in new building then the problems of decades-old old building of the hospital would also be transferred to new building.

I had raised question about inadequate water supply arrangement when the incomplete hospital building was inaugurated last year, he said adding that even then efforts were on to shift the hospital to new building.
Amidst the prevailing chaotic condition, five deep boring was installed in the hospital premises in violation of the guidelines, when Roy had questioned how a hospital could be operated in the absence of adequate water supply.
The water supply was continued from these deep boring, which was inadequate, he claimed.
Roy said he has been receiving complaints about irregular water supply but the situation did not improve even after the matter was apprised to the hospital authorities.
The monitoring committee to be comprised of Member of Parliament and legislators will take cognizance of availability of medicines, condition of equipments, para-medical staff, pathological and other examination etc and take initiative to strengthen the infrastructure and facilities.
