Kerala Public School, Kadma, organised its Annual Blood Donation Camp today to mark the ninth death anniversary of its founder chairman, Late Shri A.P.R. Nair — a visionary educationist known as the “Saksharta Man of Jamshedpur.” The camp, held on the school premises from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., successfully collected 181 units of blood.
The event began with the traditional lighting of the lamp followed by a soulful rendition of the inspirational song “Ekla Chalo Re” by the school choir.
The camp was graced by several dignitaries, including Mr. Sharat Chandran, Director, Kerala Public Schools; Ms. Lakshmi R, Academic Director; Ms. Sharmila Mukherjee, Principal, KPS Kadma; Ms. Alamelu Ravishankar, Headmistress; along with Mr. Sunil Mukherjee, Founder of VBDA; Mr. Pradeep Ghosal, VBDA Member; and medical technicians and volunteers from VBDA and Jamshedpur Blood Bank.
In his address, Mr. Sharat Chandran remembered Late Shri A.P.R. Nair as a man of action who built Kerala Public Schools from the ground up without ever accepting donations. He emphasized the importance of passion in every small effort and urged the audience to get themselves tested for thalassemia before marriage to prevent its spread.
Mr. Sunil Mukherjee also paid tribute to Late Shri Nair and shared that a memorial service was held earlier in the day at the Jamshedpur Blood Bank premises in his honor.
School Principal Ms. Sharmila Mukherjee, in her welcome speech, highlighted the need to dispel myths surrounding blood donation and encouraged community participation in such noble causes. She expressed hope for a strong turnout—and the community did not disappoint.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from a wide spectrum of people including teachers, parents, alumni, auto and van drivers, support staff, vendors, and even members from the Hindi Project School associated with KPS.
To express gratitude, Thank You cards were given to each donor. The school management extended heartfelt thanks to all participants whose selfless contributions made the event a grand success.
