Jamshedpur, April 11, 2020: The COVID-19 community initiatives taken up by Tata Steel in its operational areas has gained momentum.
Medical facilities for COVID-19 have been created in all the hospitals of Tata Steel across its manufacturing units and mining locations in the states of Jharkhand and Odisha. TMH Jamshedpur has created a COVID-19 Screening Room with online booking appointment provision for Jamshedpur citizens. A special COVID-19 Maternity and Labour Room Complex is being set-up at TMH to address the issues of COVID-19 suspect/confirmed pregnant women.
Tata Steel has set-up 650 beds (567 isolation beds and 83 beds with ventilation support) in the state of Jharkhand as part of medical readiness in case of any eventuality. This includes 513 Isolation beds and 77 Critical Care Beds with invasive & non-invasive ventilators at TMH, Jamshedpur, 25 isolation beds including 3 beds with ventilation support at Noamundi, 25 isolation beds including 3 beds with ventilation support at West Bokaro and 10 isolation beds at Jamadoba.
In the state of Odisha, the company has committed to set-up total 600 beds (555 isolation beds and 45 beds with ventilation support). Three dedicated COVID Hospitals were inaugurated by Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik through video conferencing in Odisha on April 10. This includes 200 isolation beds with 15 ICU beds in Tata Steel Medica Hospital in Berhampur near Gopalpur in Ganjam district,150 isolation bed with 15 ICU beds in Tata Steel Medica Hospital at Duburi (Kalinganagar) in Jajpur district,50 isolation bed with 5 ICU beds in Tata Steel Hospital, Joda in the Keonjhar district of Odsha.
Another 200 isolation beds with 10 ICU beds is being set-up at N.C. Autonomous College in Jajpur district of Odisha.
Moreover, the company is promoting the usage of masks amongst its employees and have issued an advisory on Mask Usage as a Precautionary Measure against COVID-19.
The COVID-19 awareness programmes being run by Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (TSUISL), formerly known as JUSCO (Jamshedpur Utilities & Services Company Limited), a Tata Steel subsidiary has touched lives of over 7.5 lakh people in Jamshedpur. The sensitisation programme by TSUISL is moving aggressively across Jamshedpur. TSUISL has set-up a Body Disinfection Chamber in Ganesh Puja Maidan, Kadma, which is a market place and the footfall of people buying vegetables on a daily basis here is much more than any other place. The Body Disinfection Chamber after due trail will be functional by next week.

So far, TSF has 180 donors who have contributed Rs 45 lakh to the kitty.70% of the people who have contributed to the kitty are citizens of Jamshedpur not employed at Tata Steel.
TSF has distributed 1615 ration plus hygiene packets in Seraikela-Kharsawan

32000 masks have been produced till date. Masks have been distributed to 100% Sahiyyas of Seraikela Kharsawan and East Singhbhum districts, while 10 of 19 blocks of West Singhbhum have been covered under this initiative. The total number of women associated with this initiative is 155.

Across 219 Panchayats that TSF has engaged with, it has been able to reach out to 1440 people directly and more than 10000 people through our primary contacts. TSF is now focused on repeat engagements in Panchayats given the scare from recent cases.
