Tata Steel Foundation Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Boxing Training Centre at Sitaramdera, Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Taking another step toward youth empowerment and sports development, Tata Steel Foundation inaugurated its third Boxing Training Centre at Sitaramdera in Jamshedpur, today. The new facility is a part of the Foundation’s ongoing mission to nurture local sporting talent and foster a culture of discipline, determination, and excellence among community youth.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Uttam Singh, Vice President, Operations, Tata Steel Meramandali, Chankaya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel and Director, Tata Steel Foundation, besides Anand Bihari Dubey, Secretary, Jharkhand Boxing Association, Sourav Roy, Chief Executive Officer, Tata Steel Foundation and Keshav Kumar, Head, Urban Services, Tata Steel Foundation and others.

Following the establishment of training centres at Namda and Baridih, the Sitaramdera centre adds to the Foundation’s growing network of sports infrastructure in the city. This facility is equipped with modern training amenities and will be managed by a dedicated boxing coach committed to guiding young athletes in their sporting journey.

Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Singh emphasized: “We should encourage inter-team competitions for sports centres to enhance sports spectrum at Jamshedpur. I encourage youngsters to spend quality time at these centres and enrich themselves in physical development.”

Chankaya Chaudhary addressed the gathering, saying: “Enabling sporting facilities at community centres enhances the city’s effort to strengthen children’s potential at sports. I am happy that children at Jamshedpur are increasingly embracing these centres as seats of physical learning and development.”

The centre is envisioned as a platform not only for training but also for hosting district and state-level boxing tournaments, offering emerging talent an opportunity to shine and compete at higher levels.

Adding his thoughts, Sourav Roy stated: “This is the third boxing centre after Namda and Baridih. We are proud of the fact that 710 children from all centres at Jamshedpur put together, have received acclaim at the national and state levels. Particularly at boxing, 105 children have brought laurels to the city by winning medals at the district, state and national levels.”

With this initiative, TSF continues to play a pivotal role in transforming lives through sports, ensuring that passion and potential are met with opportunity and support.
