Tata Steel concludes Van Mahotsav 2025 with 1,721 saplings planted across Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel’s Corporate Services division successfully concluded the week-long celebration of Van Mahotsav 2025, reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability. Observed between July 1 to 7, the event witnessed planting of 1,721 trees across various sites in Jamshedpur, with active participation from Tata Steel employees, volunteers, community members and environmental enthusiasts.

A wide variety of native and ornamental variety saplings were planted, including species such as Putranjiva, Bakul, Sita Ashok, Kachan, Spathodea, Tabebuia, Karanj, Jungle Jalebi, Simar, Arjun, and Siris. These saplings were raised in Tata Steel’s in-house Tree Bank aimed to enhance green cover and promote biodiversity in the region.

The plantation drive was carried out at multiple locations:

July 1: 400 saplings were planted at the Sewage Pumping Station, Ulidih.

July 2: 150 saplings were planted near the riverbed close to the ATBCL Roundabout.

July 3: 355 saplings were planted along 19 No. Farm Road to prevent encroachment.

July 4: 126 ornamental saplings were planted at CRM Bara, including Jarul, Kanchan, and Mahogany.

July 5: 305 saplings were planted at Jamshedpur Nature Trail in CH area.

July 6: Plantation at C2 Quarters Area, ISWP, with participation from senior officials including D.B. Sundara Ramam, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, and Sanjeev Kumar Choudhury, President, Tata Workers’ Union.

July 7: 130 saplings were planted near Image Diagnostic, Apex Hospital Road, New Baradwari, with support from the All India Women’s Conference. Additionally, 50 saplings were planted in Jubilee Park area by the Horticulture Services department of Tata Steel UISL.

Similarly, Van Mohotsav week was also observed at West Bokaro and Noamundi, Raw Material locations of Tata Steel. This initiative underscores Tata Steel’s unwavering commitment to ecological balance, the enhancement of biodiversity, and responsible mining practices that support both the environment and the surrounding communities.

The successful implementation of Van Mahotsav 2025 marks a significant step toward a greener and healthier Jamshedpur. With over 1,700 trees added to the city’s green cover, the initiative reinforces Tata Steel’s long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable urban development.
