Jamshedpur: The Steel City witnessed a landmark announcement on the eve of Founder’s Day celebrations. Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran declared that the Tata Group will invest approximately ₹11,000 crore in Jamshedpur, focusing on advanced technology initiatives.
The announcement was made after the inauguration of the Founder’s Day illumination at Jubilee Park, marking the 187th birth anniversary of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata. Noel Tata was also present during the event.
Focus on Advanced Technology
Chandrasekaran stated that the Tata Group is planning a major expansion in Jamshedpur.
“We are planning to do something significant in advanced technology and will invest around ₹11,000 crore,” he said during a brief interaction with the media. However, detailed specifics of the project were not disclosed.The proposed investment is being viewed as a major boost for industrial growth in Jharkhand.
Discussions with Chief Minister
Referring to his meeting with Hemant Soren in Ranchi, Chandrasekaran described it as positive and constructive. Discussions revolved around Jharkhand’s development roadmap, skill development initiatives, and the Tata Group’s potential role in the state’s growth.
He also mentioned strengthening Tata Steel’s CSR initiatives and exploring opportunities in the knowledge industry sector.
“This is not a one-day decision. We will continue discussions and move forward,” he added.
Jubilee Park Glows Like Diwali
On the eve of Founder’s Day, Chandrasekaran inaugurated the grand illumination at Jubilee Park by pressing a ceremonial button near the statue of Jamsetji Tata.Senior officials including T V Narendran were present and paid tribute to the founder.
As the lights came on, Jubilee Park transformed into a dazzling spectacle featuring laser shows, colorful fountain displays, and state-of-the-art lighting. Nearly 25 roundabouts, several heritage buildings, parks, and major streets were illuminated, creating a festive atmosphere across the city.
