Jamshedpur,: XLRI – Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur, concluded the second edition of the INIGO Cup, a cricket tournament organised in remembrance of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus whose feast day: Loyola Day is observed on July 31.

St. Ignatius of Loyola’s life and teachings form the foundation of the Jesuit tradition that has shaped XLRI since its establishment in 1949. His philosophy emphasised discernment, service, integrity and Magis, the constant aspiration to do and become more in the service of others. The INIGO Cup seeks to carry this spirit beyond classrooms by bringing members of the XLRI community together through sport. Conceived around Loyola Day, the tournament uses cricket: one of India’s most widely followed sports as a platform to strengthen bonds among XLRI’s stakeholders while remembering the life and values of St. Ignatius and seeking his blessings. More than a sporting competition, the tournament represents the Institute’s emphasis on brotherhood, integrity, teamwork and the spirit of Magis: living and working for the greater good.
The tournament culminated in an exciting final between XLerators (BM-HR, First Year) and XL Panthers. Batting first, XL Panthers scored 65 runs in 10 overs. XLerators responded with a commanding chase, reaching the target in just 6.1 overs with the loss of one wicket, securing the INIGO Cup Edition II title. Vasu Sachdeva of XLerators delivered an outstanding performance in the final and was named Man of the Match. He was also adjudged the Best Bowler of the Tournament. Prashant Singh of XL Tigers was recognised as the Best Batsman of the Tournament, while Abhishek Verma of XL Spartan (BM-HR, Second Year) received the Best Fielder award. The tournament concluded with XLerators emerging as champions and XL Panthers finishing as runners-up.
The INIGO Cup Edition II reflected XLRI’s belief that an institution is strengthened not only through academic pursuits but also through shared experiences that foster community and camaraderie. As the XLRI community commemorated Loyola Day, the tournament became an occasion to reconnect with the values at the heart of its Jesuit heritage to compete with integrity, stand together in brotherhood, strive for excellence through Magis and remain committed to the greater good.
