
Spectacular Swimming Showcase at JRD Tata Sports Complex
JAMSHEDPUR The iconic Swimming Pool Arena at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur hosted a grand display of aquatic athleticism during the SPSB Inter Steel Plant Swimming Championship 2026. Bringing together top talent from across the country, 40 skilled swimmers representing five major steel plants showcased speed, endurance, and true sportsmanship across seven distinct competitive events, captivating sports enthusiasts throughout the tournament.


Tata Steel Claims Champion Title with 40 Points
Dominating the championship with remarkable consistency, host team Tata Steel secured the Overall Champions title by accumulating an impressive 40 points. Tata Steel swimmers delivered standout performances across nearly all categories to maintain a clear lead. ISP Burnpur mounted a strong challenge to finish as the Runner-Up with 11 points. Swimmers from RINL Visakhapatnam, JSW Vijayanagar (Bellary), and Rourkela Steel Plant also delivered memorable performances.

Distinguished Guests Praise Athletic Excellence
The closing ceremony was graced by Jitendra Singh Shikawat, Chief (Security & Brand Protection), Tata Steel, who attended as the Chief Guest. Sailesh Singh, Deputy President of the Tata Workers’ Union, joined as the Guest of Honour to felicitate the winners with medals and trophies. Mukul Vinayak Choudhary, Chief Sports, and Manish Sinha, Head – Sports Events & Training Centres, were also present to cheer for the athletes.

Fostering Sports Culture and Inter-Plant Camaraderie
Former international swimmer and ex-Tata Steel employee Ram Balak Singh served as the official observer for the tournament, evaluating the high standards of competition. The seamless execution of the championship was managed by Sanjay Mishra, Firoz Khan, and Yuvraj Patel. The event reaffirmed Tata Steel’s commitment to promoting athletic talent while strengthening institutional bonds and camaraderie among steel plant organizations nationwide
