
JAMSHEDPUR. In a historic moment for the sporting fraternity of Jharkhand, 50-year-old Sadeep Saha has achieved a rare international milestone. An employee of Tata Steel, Saha has been selected as the only umpire from India to officiate at the prestigious 30th Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship. The high-profile continental tournament is scheduled to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from June 28 to July 4.

Leaving for the Thai Capital on June 25
To fulfill this major international assignment, Saha will be departing from Jamshedpur for Bangkok on June 25. Being chosen as the solitary representative from the Indian umpiring contingent for a massive Asian-level event speaks volumes about his command over the fast-paced global regulations of modern Table Tennis. He will be officiating some of the most crucial knockout matches featuring the highest-seeded young paddlers in Asia.
A 15-Year Journey of Balancing Desk and Court
Saha works in the Integrated Planning and Services (IP & S) department at Tata Steel. Beyond his daily corporate deliverables, his dedication to the wooden table has been a lifelong pursuit. He has been actively associated with the Jharkhand State Table Tennis Association since 2011. Over the last 15 years, he has steadily climbed the ranks of sports officiating, discharging crucial refereeing responsibilities across dozens of State-level and National Table Tennis Championships.

The announcement of his selection by the Asian Table Tennis Union has triggered a wave of pride across the state.
