Jamshedpur, July 13, 2026: In a significant move to nurture young athletic talent, Tata Steel, in collaboration with Tata ClassEdge, successfully concluded a transformative 8-day sports excellence camp for the students of Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj (MVPS), Nashik. Held from July 1 to July 8, 2026, the camp aimed to provide budding athletes with world-class exposure to professional training, sports science, and the rich sporting culture of Jamshedpur.

The batch of 25 selected students from MVPS Nashik received a warm welcome at the JRD Tata Sports Complex by Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief Sports, Tata Steel, and Captain Manish Sinha, Head Sports, Tata Steel. The initial orientation set the stage for a rigorous yet enriching schedule designed for holistic athletic development.
Mastering the Bow at Tata Archery Academy
A major highlight of the camp was the dedicated archery training held at the prestigious Tata Archery Academy. The students received hands-on coaching from expert training centre coaches, Sushanto and Parvati. The learning experience was elevated further by a special workshop on advanced archery techniques led by the legendary coach Purnima Mahato, whose insights gave students a rare glimpse into the precision required at the international level.

Integrating Modern Sports Science
Moving beyond traditional physical drills, the camp placed a strong emphasis on modern sports science. At the High Performance Centre (HPC), specialist physiotherapist Mansi Bulsara conducted focused sessions on injury prevention, recovery techniques, and the physiological aspects of professional sports. This exposure helped students understand the “science behind the sport,” which is crucial for any aspiring athlete today.
A Holistic Multi-Sport Experience
The curriculum was carefully balanced with a variety of sports disciplines to ensure overall fitness and skill development. Apart from archery, the students participated in Basketball, Pickleball, Self-Defence, Zumba, and Water Polo. The group also visited the state-of-the-art Naval Tata Hockey Academy (NTHA) to witness the world-class sports infrastructure available in the city.

Exploring the Steel City and Grand Finale
To provide a well-rounded experience, the students went on several recreational excursions across Jamshedpur. They visited the Tata Steel Zoological Park, the Centre for Excellence, and enjoyed a serene evening watching the famous laser show at Jubilee Park. The camp concluded on a high note with an exciting horse-riding session and a friendly archery tournament, where students put their newly acquired skills to the test.
