Jamshedpur:
A recent directive from the Raj Bhavan in Jharkhand, aligning with the New Education Policy, has caused concern among students registered for the 12th grade (Intermediate) under the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC). The directive states that colleges affiliated with universities will no longer conduct Intermediate (Class 11–12) classes starting this academic session.
To address the potential impact on students already enrolled and registered with JAC, Jamshedpur West MLA Mr. Saryu Rai convened a high-level meeting at his Bistupur office. The meeting included principals of constituent colleges, Intermediate course coordinators, and academic representatives.
Key Concerns Raised:
Students who are already registered for Class 12 with JAC for the 2025 board exam should not be affected by the directive.
Immediate implementation of the Raj Bhavan order could disrupt the education of students currently pursuing Class 12 within college campuses.
Class 11 students who failed last year also need a special provision for continuing education.
Colleges should be allowed to complete the 12th-grade syllabus and submit examination forms to JAC for existing students.
Consensus Reached:
The participants unanimously agreed to urge the State Government and the Department of Higher Education to request the Governor’s office to amend the directive, allowing current Class 12 students to continue their studies at their existing institutions.
