Jamshedpur – The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to sabotage a government-organized program in Bhognadih (Barhet constituency) on June 30, held to honor tribal freedom fighters Sidho and Kanhu. During a press conference at the Circuit House in Jamshedpur, JMM spokesperson Kunal Sarangi made serious allegations, claiming the BJP orchestrated a conspiracy to disturb law and order.
According to Sarangi, due to the ill health of JMM patriarch Shibu Soren, Chief Minister Hemant Soren couldn’t attend the event. In his place, Education Minister Ramdas Soren was officially assigned to participate. However, BJP leaders allegedly tried to block the event by creating parallel arrangements right in front of the government stage—without any administrative permission.
Kunal Sarangi stated that BJP’s plan was to disrupt the event and create unrest in the name of religious and political sentiment. He further revealed that two close aides of former CM Champai Soren—Mandal Murmu and Sudhir Kumar—were arrested in connection with the conspiracy. These individuals were reportedly distributing money, weapons, clothes, and saris in nearby tribal areas for several days in an effort to incite the local population.
He also claimed that the BJP used Mandal Murmu, who was the official proposer for CM Hemant Soren in the last Assembly elections, and publicly inducted him into the BJP in front of senior leaders like Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Himanta Biswa Sarma. Based on this, the BJP then began demanding the cancellation of Soren’s Assembly membership—another political move, JMM alleges, meant to destabilize the government.
The BJP, on the other hand, accused the government of preventing its workers from offering prayers at the martyrdom site and alleged that police used tear gas and force against peaceful protestors. In response, Kunal Sarangi challenged BJP leaders to prove their claims, calling their narrative “false propaganda.”
He remarked, “This is a classic case of ‘ek to chori, upar se seenazori’ (stealing and then blaming others). Those trying to mislead people and disturb Jharkhand’s harmony—whether in front or behind the scenes—will not escape the law.”
JMM emphasized that the government was only trying to honor tribal heroes and accused the BJP of trying to politicize a sacred occasion for selfish gain.
