Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal issued the official notification on Sunday. The party has entrusted leadership responsibilities to two MLAs, several former MLAs, and senior leaders, signaling that organizational revival is now a top priority.
According to party sources, the reshuffle maintains a balance between experienced leaders and new faces. Former MLA J.P. Patel has been appointed district president of Hazaribagh, while Stephen Marandi will lead Dumka, Santosh Kumar Singh takes charge of Dhanbad, and Parvinder Singh becomes the new district president of East Singhbhum.
The reshuffle also reflects inputs from former state presidents Rajesh Thakur, Sukhdeo Bhagat, and former Union Minister Subodhkant Sahay. In several districts, local ministers and senior leaders had a say in the appointments, although in Garhwa and Palamu, their recommendations were reportedly not followed.
Congress insiders say this change marks the first phase of organizational restructuring. The formation of a new state executive committee is expected soon, with the new team likely to begin functioning formally after the Chhath festival.
Political observers believe the Congress is working to rejuvenate its mass base in Jharkhand through this structural overhaul. The party now plans to strengthen its booth-level network to gear up for the forthcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
