Jamshedpur: The investigation into the audacious dacoity at the Canara Bank branch in Golmuri has reached a high level. On Friday, Zonal IG Manoj Joshi and Kolhan DIG Aniranjan Kisku arrived in Jamshedpur and inspected the crime scene. Both senior officials examined the geographical layout of the bank premises and surrounding areas, identifying the criminals’ potential entry and escape routes.
They were accompanied by Jamshedpur SSP Dr. Ahtesham Waqarib, the Rural SP, and other district police officials.
20-Member SIT Formed to Focus on Arrests
To crack the dacoity case, Zonal IG Manoj Joshi has constituted a 20-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by the City SP.
The police team has been tasked with identifying and arresting the criminals, recovering the looted cash and gold, and uncovering the deep-seated conspiracy behind the heist.
CCTV Footage and Technical Evidence Under Scrutiny
During the investigation, police teams are scouring CCTV footage from the bank premises and nearby streets. Investigators are mapping the exact routes taken by the perpetrators to reach the spot and flee afterward.
Technical evidence is also being analyzed to track the criminals’ digital and physical movements. Furthermore, the police are reviewing the bank’s security arrangements, alarm systems, and activities observed immediately before and after the incident.
Did the Criminals Have Inside Information?
The police are vigorously probing whether the perpetrators possessed prior knowledge of the bank’s internal layout and the exact location where cash and gold were stored, or if they extracted this information from employees after entering.
The possibility of a prior recce of the bank is also being examined as a core part of the probe.

Five Criminals Involved in the Heist: SSP
Jamshedpur SSP Dr. Ahtesham Waqarib stated that the police have received crucial leads in the case and will release sketches of the suspects soon.
According to the SSP, five criminals were involved in the armed robbery. Preliminary findings indicate that the culprits fled with approximately ₹42 lakh in cash and roughly 23 kilograms of gold. The police have also announced cash rewards for information leading to the arrest of the five suspects.
The SIT now faces the critical challenge of identifying the accused, tracking their hideouts, and recovering the looted assets.
