Jamshedpur, : A group of miscreants on Thursday looted cash and gold estimated to worth over Rs. 40 lakhs from a nationalized bank in Jamshedpur, a police officer said.
About half a dozen miscreants wearing raincoat entered the Golmuri branch of Canara Bank under Golmuri police station limit and looted cash and gold worth around Rs. 42 lakhs at gun.
After committing the crime, the looters decamped with the booty on two motorcycles.
On being informed of the incident, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Subham Kumar Khandelwal, who was acting SP(City) rushed to the spot and began investigation.
Five youths entered the bank and taken the staff members and customers into captivity before looting Rs. 43 lakh cash and gold kept mortgage in the bank, SP told pti.
