Jamshedpur. In a major relief for the residents of rural areas in the East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur) district, the police administration has launched a highly beneficial and significant initiative. Rural citizens, who often had to travel miles to the city to get their grievances resolved, will now have accessible justice closer to home. Under the able guidance of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), a ‘Janta Darbar’ (Public Grievance Redressal Camp) will now be organized in rural areas. Under this initiative, the Superintendent of Police (Rural) will personally sit in the Ghatshila sub-division to listen to people’s problems.
Initiative Launched Under SSP’s Directives This step has been taken with the objective of ensuring the swift resolution of people’s problems at the rural level and establishing direct communication between the police and the public. On the instructions of the SSP, the SP (Rural) will now organize this special ‘Janta Darbar’ at the camp office of the Ghatshila sub-division. The administration’s main goal is to ensure that the voices of rural citizens reach higher officials directly and that their complaints are acted upon immediately, rather than getting buried in files.
Accessible Hearings Every Wednesday from 11 AM Under this new arrangement, the Janta Darbar will be held every Wednesday starting at 11:00 AM at the Ghatshila Sub-Divisional Camp Office. The SP (Rural) will be personally present at the scheduled time. During this period, people from rural areas can directly bring any police-related problems, land dispute cases, family disputes, or other security-related complaints to the SP (Rural) for a hearing.
Relief from Commuting to the City Earlier, residents from far-flung rural areas like Ghatshila, Musabani, Baharagora, Dhalbhumgarh, Dumaria, and Gudabanda had to travel all the way to the Jamshedpur district headquarters (SSP Office) for their minor and major complaints. This consumed their entire day and a significant amount of money. Often, they had to return disappointed if the concerned officer was unavailable. With the Janta Darbar now being held in Ghatshila itself, villagers will save both time and money, while also getting relief from mental distress.
Focus on Quick Resolution and Police-Public Coordination The biggest advantage of this Janta Darbar is that the general public will have easy access to official hearings. The SP (Rural) will instruct the concerned Station House Officers (SHOs) and police officials on the spot for the quick resolution of the raised problems. This will not only expedite the disposal of pending cases but also promote community policing in rural areas. This initiative is expected to further strengthen the bond of trust between the police administration and the general public.
