Jamshedpur: A tragic incident in the Demdubi area of Kapali police station has left the local community in shock. Four-year-old Osman Gani, a student of Galaxy Public School, lost his life after falling into an uncovered septic tank near his home on Wednesday.
According to the family, the child had visited his grandmother’s house. Finding no one there, he started returning home alone. On the way, his foot slipped into an open septic tank at an under-construction site and he fell inside. The tank was filled with rainwater, which led to the child drowning.

For nearly half an hour, no one noticed the incident. Later, family members and local residents began searching for him. After a strenuous effort, the child was pulled out of the tank and rushed to Tata Main Hospital (TMH), where doctors declared him dead. The news of his death plunged the family into grief and left the neighborhood in a state of mourning.
Local residents reported that the septic tank had been uncovered for six months. Contractors and officials responsible for the construction had failed to provide proper safety measures, resulting in this fatal accident. Residents have expressed anger at the negligence of both the administration and the contractors, stating that a young life was lost due to their carelessness.

The incident sparked outrage in the neighborhood, with locals demanding that all open septic tanks and pits in the area be immediately covered to prevent similar tragedies in the future. They also called for strict action against those responsible.
