Jamshedpur: In yet another daring daylight robbery, miscreants in Jamshedpur struck for the second consecutive day, leaving the city in shock. On Thursday afternoon, around 12:58 pm, armed criminals robbed a businessman of ₹30 lakh near the Bistupur Gurudwara. The culprits attacked him with chili powder and even fired shots before escaping in a white Innova car. Fortunately, the victim narrowly escaped without major injuries.

Businessman was heading to the bank with cash
According to police sources, the victim, Saket Agiwal, is a distributor for Hindustan Unilever. He was carrying cash in a bag on his scooter to deposit it in a bank. As he passed the Gurudwara area, a white Innova intercepted his path. Four men suddenly surrounded him, clearly waiting for the right moment.
Chili powder attack and pistol threat
Eyewitnesses revealed that the criminals first threw red chili powder into Agiwal’s eyes to disorient him. They then brandished pistols and snatched away the cash-filled bag. When he resisted, the robbers fired shots in the air to spread panic and quickly fled the spot in their vehicle. Preliminary reports suggest the bag contained around ₹30 lakh.
Police begin probe, CCTV footage under scrutiny
The incident triggered immediate police action. A team from Bistupur police station rushed to the spot and sealed off the area. CCTV footage from the Gurudwara and nearby locations is being thoroughly examined to identify the culprits.
City SP Kumar Shivashish, along with senior officers, inspected the crime scene. Speaking to the media, he confirmed the robbery and said:
“The case is being investigated with utmost seriousness. Police teams are working on all leads, and the culprits will be arrested soon.”
However, he refrained from officially confirming the exact amount looted.
Second major loot in 24 hours
Shockingly, this is the second major robbery in Jamshedpur within 24 hours. On Wednesday, unidentified miscreants looted jewellery worth nearly ₹10 lakh from a shop in Sonari. The shop owner was assaulted with the butt of a pistol and injured before the criminals fled, firing in the air.
Two such back-to-back incidents have sparked fear and anger among residents, raising serious questions on law and order in the city. Business communities have demanded stricter patrolling and quick arrests to restore public confidence.
