Chaibasa (Jharkhand), Apr 9 : Two can-bombs and arrow bombs have been recovered following a fierce encounter between the security personnel and CPI (Maoists) in Kedabeer jungle under Sonua police station of naxal-affected West Singhbhum district on Thursday, a senior police officer said.
Acting on an information that a group of naxal gathered in the jungle, the district armed force and CRPF 60 battalion personnel jointly launched a massive search operation in the area, said Superintendent of Police, Indrajeet Mahatha.
On seeing the approaching security personnel, Mahatha said the Maoists started firing, forcing the security personnel to retaliate.
Following a fierce exchange of fire, the ultras made a hasty retreat in view of the mounting pressure from the security personnel, he said adding that a massive search operation was launched after the encounter.
The security personnel recovered two can-bombs each weighing one kg and as many arrow boms (ied fitted in the arrow), among other daily core items including utensils and naxal uniforms in course of the search operation, which was still on, Mahatha added.
