In view of the heavy rain forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum, Mr. Karn Satyarthi, has ordered the closure of all government, private, and minority schools up to Class 12 on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
According to Press Release No. 411/2025 issued by the District Public Relations Office, the IMD has predicted severe and continuous rainfall in the next 24 hours, which could pose a serious threat to public life and student safety.
The Deputy Commissioner has stated that this decision is precautionary and in the public interest. He has also directed schools to ensure continuity of learning through online classes so that students’ academic progress is not hampered.
The district administration is closely monitoring the weather situation and further instructions will be issued if required. The Deputy Commissioner also warned that any violation of this order by any educational institution will be dealt with strictly under the relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
Parents and schools have welcomed the decision, considering the safety of children. Schools have also been advised to activate their online learning infrastructure to maintain academic continuity.
