Tata Steel Zoological Park Celebrates World Environment Day-2019

Jamshedpur । Tata Steel Zoological Park today celebrated “World Environment Day” with the theme “Reduce Air Pollution”. It organized an “Environment Awareness Bicycle Rally” this morning at 7:00 AM. to reduce the air pollution by promoting cycling in the City instead of extensive use of automobiles.

The “Bicycle Rally” was flagged off by Mr. Amresh Sinha, Member, TSZS, Mr. Bipul Chakrabarty, Director, Dr. Seema Rani, Biologist cum Education Officer, at the Tata Zoo Main Gate. The cyclists covered a distance of approx 5 km to the Sakchi Golchakkar, and then on to Straight Mile Road, Modi Park before returning to the venue. They wore masks and had banners on the cycles to spread the message of collective fight against air pollution.  A total of 54 cyclists participated in the rally. Dr. S. K. Mahato, Curator of Tata Zoo, Mr. B. K. Singh, Principal NTTF were present on the occasion. The TILT extended their support by providing bicycles for the participants.

 

On June 5, 2019, at 9.30 AM, an “Eco-friendly Painting Workshop” for students will be organized on tribal art like Paitkar art, Sohrai art and others to promote the use of natural colours and to minimize the environmental pollution due to harmful chemicals used in synthetic paints. These activities are in association with NTTF Burmamines and JUSCO School Kadma.  A total of around 80 child artists are expected to participate in the event.

 

World Environment Day is the biggest annual event for positive environmental action. The aim is to encourage recycling and sustainable development, fighting global warming, and cleaning up pollution.
