Tata Steel’s Jharia Division Collieries Bag Five Star Ratings for 2022-23

Jamadoba/Jamshedpur: Jharia Division of Tata Steel bagged the prestigious “Five Star Ratings” awards at the “Star Rating Awards for Coal & Lignite Mines” organized by the Ministry of Coal on 21st October 2024, at SCOPE Convention Centre, New Delhi.

The division’s Jamadoba Colliery secured third position while Sijua Colliery earned the “Achiever Prize”, both in underground mines category, for assessment year 2022-23. The award was presented to Sanjay Rajoria, General Manager Jharia Division Tata Steel and Kousik Gayen, Head (Planning) by Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of Coal & Mines and Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, Minister of State for Coal and Mines, in presence of other senior officials from the Ministry of Coal.

Notably, four underground Collieries at Jharia Division had secured several awards in the previous Star Rating assessments for base years 2019-20, 2020-21 & 2021-22 as well.

These awards are a testament to Jharia Division’s excellence in mining operations & commitment to safe & sustainable mining practices.
