Jamshedpur: Tata Steel sports department is organizing Inter-JDC Cricket Tournament, which kicked off on October 26 at the Armoury Ground, marking the beginning of an exciting cricketing event.
The opening ceremony was graced by Sanjeev Choudhari, President, Tata Workers’ Union (TWU) along with Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief Sports Excellence Centre, Tata Steel and Hemant Gupta, Head Adventure Programme and Sports, Tata Steel.
The tournament is being played in a single-elimination format. The matches are played in a 20-over format and the teams are divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals. The final will be played on November 10. A total of 35 teams are contesting for the Inter-JDC Cricket Tournament title cup this year. Three matches will be played every day and a total of 34 matches will be played over next 15 days.
The tournament is being played in a friendly and competitive spirit and is a great opportunity for the employees of Tata Steel to showcase their sporting skills. The tournament is also a great way to promote camaraderie and team spirit among the employees.
The Sports Department of Tata Steel is committed to provide a platform for the employees to participate in sporting activities and the Inter-JDC Cricket Tournament is one of the many initiatives that the department has taken in this regard. The department is confident that the tournament will be a success and will provide the employees with a great opportunity to enjoy the game of cricket.
Present on the occasion were Shailesh Singh, Deputy President TWU, Sanjay Singh, Vice-Chairman, Sports Advisory Committee along with members from Sports Advisory Committee and Union Committee.
