Tata Steel Foundation Renovates Medical Block and Constructs a New Waiting Hall at Community Health Centre, Mandu

Mandu (Ramgarh)/Ranchi/Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, May 22: The three medical blocks in the Community Health Centre (CHC), Mandu, was renovated by the civil infrastructure team in consultation with the public health team, at the Tata Steel Foundation.

 

As part of Tata Steel Foundation’s commitment to the communities, towards overall welfare, and enhanced healthcare facilities – a new waiting hall and a colourful Malnutrition Treatment Centre (MTC) ward for children were also constructed at the Community Health Centre. The renovation plan is part of Tata Steel Foundation’s larger goals to work in tandem with state governments and provide better facilities.

 

The inaugural ceremony of the medical blocks was attended by top district officials in Ramgarh, and the senior leadership of Tata Steel Foundation, and Tata Steel Limited, of the West Bokaro Division. Shri Jai Prakash Bhai Patel, MLA, Mandu, and Deputy Commissioner, Miss Madhvi Mishra, IAS, inaugurated the Community Centre in the presence of Civil Surgeon-cum-CMO (Chief Medical Officer) Dr Prabhat Kumar, Shri Sudhir Prakash, BDO, Mandu, Shri Jay Kumar Ram, CO, Mandu, Dr Nitesh Kumar, MOIC, Mandu. Anurag Dixit, General Manager, Tata Steel Limited, Satyanarayan Nandi, Head – Infrastructure, Tata Steel Foundation were also present at the event.

 

The Malnutrition Treatment Centre (MTC) ward has been made specially for the Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) children and Deputy Commissioner, Ms Madhvi Mishra, IAS, shared her inputs, saying, “The civil infrastructure work enabled by Tata Steel Foundation has been outstanding. I had visited this medical block few months ago and it was in a dilapidated state. Really applaud the efforts of civil engineers at the Tata Steel Foundation, who have renovated the campus, added a new waiting hall in such a short time. This renovated campus will serve as a great model for other community health care centres in the state of Jharkhand. In fact, we are also planning to nominate CHC Mandu for healthcare related awards in the state”.

 

Sharing his thoughts on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer, Tata Steel Foundation, Sourav Roy said, “The renovation of the Community Health Centre at Mandu is an important milestone for Tata Steel Foundation for the enhanced quality care it will bring to communities in the region. It takes forward our commitment to positive public health outcomes, collaborating with the Government of Jharkhand, in domains like maternal and neo natal mortality, non-communicable and vector borne diseases, cataract surgeries et al. We remain grateful to communities for the trust they repose in us”.

 

Resonating his thoughts, Civil Surgeon-cum-CMO, Dr Prabhat Kumar shared, “I am thankful to all the civil engineers at Tata Steel Foundation and the support from the District Administration, for renovating the campus so well. I have personally monitored this place and the roof top was in shambles. The civil engineers at the Tata Steel Foundation have shown great expertise and commitment towards the betterment of healthcare. The ongoing cataract camp by Tata Steel Foundation has been a great success in the area and I thank Dr Mamta Gehlawat personally for her diligence, empathy, and commitment towards public healthcare”.

 

The Community Health Centre at Mandu, in Ramgarh division, caters to all the nearby villages, with state-of-the-art facilities. To that effect a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the District Administration of Ramgarh and Tata Steel Foundation on December 6th, 2022.
