Tata Steel’s Industrial By-Products Management Division commences operations from its new Processing and Sales Yard at Marine Drive in Jamshedpur
Jamshedpur, : The Industrial By-Products Management Division (IBMD) of Tata Steel commenced operations from its new Processing and Sales Yard at Marine Drive on November 16, 2020. Sanjiv Paul, Vice President (Safety Health & Sustainability), Tata Steel, inaugurated the state-of-the-art Baling unit and the weighbridge set-up in the premises.
IBMD Sales Yard, specialised cut-to-length line, and mechanised processing line for Flat Product arisings are some unique facilities which has been planned to create an ecosystem for handling Tata Steel By-products in line with the growth of Tata Steel Jamshedpur.
Tata Steel in-house solutions such as Nest-In structures, Fibre Reinforced Composite Plastic (FRCP) poles have been extensively used to create this modern infrastructure at Marine Drive. A transport park with all amenities has been developed to handle logistics requirement of the entire supply chain planned from this processing yard.
The unit also has an Innovation Lab to develop light concrete products using in-house aggregates such as Tata Aggreto (Processed Steel Slag), Tata Nirman, and Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag.
On the occasion, the team briefed the present dignitaries on the green initiatives like solar panels, rain water harvesting and digital supply chain management system which have been undertaken with a focus on enabling a sustainable tomorrow. In his address to the audience, Sanjiv Paul advised the team to look at electric mobility solutions to reduce the carbon footprint across all the operations in Tata Steel.
Tarun Daga, MD, Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (TSUISL) and Prabhat Kumar, Executive in Charge (EIC) IBMD, Tata Steel, were also present at the inaugural function.
