Jamshedpur, January 1, 2022: Tata Steel today welcomed the New Year 2022 with renewed resolve, commitment, and enthusiasm. Continuing with its tradition, cake cutting programmes were organised at Jamshedpur and other operating locations with limited participation following all COVID-19 protocols. While CEO & Managing Director, T V Narendran participated in a New Year Cake Cutting Function at Works General Office (WGO) Lawn and TMH, the New Year Cake Cutting function at JRD Tata Sports Complex was graced by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services. The programme was also live streamed for the employees.
On this special occasion, Tata Steel thanked its employees, doctors, healthcare, and frontline workers who not only demonstrated resilience and took care of the Company while serving the community selflessly. T V Narendran thanked the employees for their resilience during the tough times of COVID-19 and wished good health and safety to them and their families.
The cake cutting function at WGO Lawn was attended by Dr J J Irani, former Managing Director, Tata Steel, senior retired executives of Tata Steel, senior officials of the company, Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, President of Tata Workers’ Union and office bearers of Tata Workers` Union.
As India’s leading steel producer, Tata Steel has taken giant strides across multiple themes in 2021. Tata Steel Jamshedpur plant was included in the prestigious Global Lighthouse network, a recognition by World Economic Forum’s for adoption of fourth Industrial revolution technologies. Spearheading the cause of sustainability, the Company commissioned India’s first Steel Recycling Plant in Haryana, commenced using Electric Vehicles for transporting of finished steel, and set-up India’s first plant for CO2 capture from Blast Furnace gas at Jamshedpur. In its sustained pursuit to foster diversity and inclusion, Tata Steel onboarded transgender persons at its West Bokaro mining division.
2022 promises to be a year of full-fledged recovery for the steel sector, backed by recovery in the global economy, and increased impetus to infrastructure spending across economies. The coming year will also see the industry focusing on larger sustainability goals. Tata Steel looks forward to a year of new ideas, innovation, collaboration and growth in 2022.
