Tata Steel observes National Fire Service Week

Jamshedpur, : Tata Steel today kicks off National Fire Service Week observance (April 14 to 22) across locations to pay homage and gratitude to the brave fire-fighters who do supreme sacrifice while saving lives and assets.

Opening ceremony of the National Fire Service Week was graced by Gopal P Choudhary, Chief Security & Brand Protection Tata Steel. Shekhar Kishore Prasad, Head Security Works, Abhay Kumar Singh, Head Security Jamshedpur, Rakesh Joshi, Sr. Manager Fire Brigade, Abhay Ranjan, Manager, Fire Brigade and Shahnawaz Khan, UCM Fire Brigade graced the function while paying homage to the fire fighters.

 

Gopal P Choudhary also flagged off the Fire Vehicle Rally on the occasion.  In his address he said about the importance of National Fire Service Day and emphasised on need of fire safety awareness. He expressed gratitude to fire service personnel for their sacrifices and services to Tata Steel and Society. He emphasized on safety of fire-personnel and ensuring use of appropriate personal protective equipment during fire-fighting and rescue operations. He reaffirmed on need to avert incidents of fire with heightened level of awareness in masses.

 

Vote of thanks was given by Shahnawaz Khan, UCM, Fire Services. He expressed gratitude to dignitaries, participants and organisers of the event.

 

April 14 is observed as National Fire Service Day in India. On this day, in the year 1944, the Fire Personnel displayed exemplary courage and devotion to their duty as they fought the huge fire that had erupted following an explosion on a Ship, S.S. Fort Stikine at the dock of Mumbai Port. Many firefighters lost their lives in this incident. Even after this incident, while fighting fire, so many fire fighters have been losing their lives. On the 14th April of every year homage is paid to those brave fire fighters who laid their lives on the call of the duty.
