~Weekly online talk-sessions to help students explore career opportunities~
Jamshedpur, Over 650 students signed-up for the ‘Gear Up’ initiative organized by Tata Education Excellence Program (TEEP) to help students explore diverse career opportunities. In a highly engaging opening session, over 200 students asked questions ranging from how to prepare for different career paths, convincing parents about their choices, to building self-confidence. In its 8-part online interactive series, the experts from various fields would address students from standard-8th to standard-12th. The speaker for the opening session on May 1, Ritu Kant Ojha, an expert in corporate leadership training and coaching, and the author of ‘Real Conversations in Digital Age’, spoke about managing passion with academics and how to build communication skills. The highlight of the session were inspiring stories of students, who despite limited resources and movement restrictions due to pandemic, were working on alternate careers like fashion-designing, video editing, photography and graphic-designing.
Further sessions will have speakers from the field of defense forces, civil services, law, acting & singing, journalism etc. The experts will enable students to become acquainted with these fields and guide students on how to move ahead and succeed in it.
TEEP was started in 2003 to enable schools improve the quality of education so that they can offer greater value to the students and create a culture of excellence to nurture the ‘citizens of tomorrow.’ The schools voluntarily participate in this program which is a year-long engagement and then they are assessed on education excellence maturity. Currently working with 40+ schools in and around Jamshedpur, guidance on career opportunities is identified as an area to handhold students.
