Jamshedpur: In response to numerous requests from schools and in alignment with NEP 2020, the Tata Education Excellence Programme (TEEP) at Tata Steel, organised a session on 5S and Visual Workplace Management (VWM) in schools.
5S is a Japanese 5-step methodology (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) used for organizing and maintaining efficient work environments and creating a clean, uncluttered, and safe workspace. The goal of 5S is to enhance productivity by reducing waste and ensuring that everything is in its proper place, making it easier for people to perform their tasks effectively.
Visual Workplace Management (VWM) involves the use of visual tools and standardized visual elements like signs, labels, and charts to communicate information to simplify processes and reduce errors
The session organized at J.H. Tarapore School witnessed participation of 40 (mainly middle level leadership and administrative staff) from 19 schools.
About the Tata Education Excellence Programme (TEEP)
Started in 2003, TEEP enables schools to improve the quality of education through a calibrated approach. This programme is currently run in schools in and around Jamshedpur. Schools voluntarily participate in a yearlong engagement, after which they are assessed on an education excellence model adapted from the Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence criteria.
