Adityapur,:
In a bold incident of theft, burglars looted jewellery worth approximately ₹10 lakh, ₹20,000 in cash, and an Alto car from a residence in Ward No. 19, Pan Dukan Colony, under the Adityapur police station area. The incident took place late Monday night while the homeowners were away in their native village of Koderma.
The victim, Sanjay Kumar, returned home on Tuesday morning with his wife, Asha Verma, only to find the main gate’s latch broken and their maroon Alto car missing from inside the compound. Upon entering the house, they discovered that their bedroom cupboard had been forcibly opened, and all the jewellery and cash stored inside were gone.
According to Asha Verma, the stolen ornaments were being saved for their daughter’s upcoming wedding. “She works in Bengaluru and is due to be married in a few months. These jewellery items were carefully collected for her,” she said.
Shockingly, the burglars used tools found within the house itself—specifically a toolkit kept by the family—to break into the cupboard. The car key, which was hanging inside the house, was also taken and used to drive away the vehicle.
What adds to the mystery is the presence of a family member’s house right next door, where construction is currently ongoing. Despite some supervision from the adjoining property, the theft still occurred without detection.
Upon being notified, the Adityapur police arrived at the scene and began their investigation. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to trace the culprits and gather further evidence.
This incident has raised serious concerns about security in residential areas, especially when families leave their homes unattended. Police have urged residents to inform local stations before extended absences and install surveillance systems.
