One of the first business archives in the country, it is a veritable time capsule, preserving the remarkable journey of Tata Steel. Situated at the Centre of Excellence, Jamshedpur, the repository is a testament to the Company’s enduring commitment to preserving history, innovation and the pioneering spirit.
Housed within its walls are 15 lakh original documents that offer a captivating glimpse into the Company’s evolution from 1890 to 2022. The archives have letters from J N Tata, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, and Sir M Visvesvaraya. Among the other historically preserved documents are the prospectus of Tata Steel when the Company was registered, postal stamps, early town planning maps, the diary of Charles Page Perin and early welfare schemes. Meticulous care has been taken in preserving these archival gems, several of which have also been digitised, making them more accessible.
