
Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum Police have cracked the sensational Sonari Jewelers robbery case, bringing relief to the city. Acting on confidential intelligence received by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and technical inputs, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) carried out raids and successfully arrested three notorious members of an inter-state criminal gang.
The arrested criminals have been identified as Vishnu Shankar Rai, Saurabh Mehta alias Sonu, and Suraj Kumar. During the raid, police recovered a country-made pistol, live cartridges, a Hyundai Alcazar car, two Pulsar motorcycles, three smartphones, and two keypad mobile phones from their possession.
During interrogation, the accused admitted their involvement in the armed robbery at Vardhman Jewelers in Sonari market. Investigations revealed that the robbery was planned and executed by an inter-state criminal gang that has been active in several districts of Jharkhand and Bihar.

Following the arrests, police also recovered another country-made pistol hidden near Dobho Bridge bushes on the basis of the confession and pointing out by Vishnu Shankar. Authorities confirmed that the gang had been planning multiple high-profile crimes and posed a major threat to public safety.
The SIT operation was led by Deputy Superintendents of Police Manoj Thakur and Sunny Vardhan, supported by Sonari Police Station in-charge Madhusudan De, Cyber Police Station in-charge Kumar Saryu Anand, Investigating Officer Dhananjay Kumar Singh, and the technical surveillance team.
Police sources stated that manhunt operations are underway to nab other absconding members of the gang. The inter-state syndicate has been linked to a series of criminal incidents including armed robberies and extortion in Jharkhand and Bihar.
The successful breakthrough in the Sonari Jewelers robbery case not only exposes the functioning of such organized criminal gangs but also highlights the crucial role of intelligence-based policing. Police have appealed to the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies to help curb organized crime.
This decisive action by the SIT has restored confidence among local traders and residents, ensuring that law enforcement is determined to keep such criminal elements in check.
