Jamshedpur: A major road accident took place in the Telco area of Jamshedpur on Friday morning when a Tata Winger school van carrying children crashed into a road divider near N-111 on the Telco Stadium-Bhuvaneshwari Temple Road.
Around 15 to 17 children were reportedly injured in the accident. The injured children were immediately shifted to Tata Motors Hospital with the help of local residents. The driver and two children reportedly sustained serious injuries.
School Van Hits Divider with Loud Impact
According to initial information, the Tata Winger was carrying children of Chinmaya School towards the stadium area. Near N-111, the vehicle reportedly went out of control and climbed onto the divider in the middle of the road.
The impact was so strong that the vehicle’s chamber was reportedly damaged, producing a loud sound. The collision triggered panic inside the van, with the children crying for help.
Hearing the children’s screams, residents from nearby flats rushed to the spot. A large number of people gathered at the accident site and helped rescue the children from the damaged vehicle.
The injured children were subsequently taken to Tata Motors Hospital for medical treatment.
Driver Allegedly Lost Control While Looking at Car
According to eyewitnesses and local residents, the accident may have occurred after another car suddenly came very close to the school van.
A local resident identified as Uttam said that a car coming from the direction of Chinmaya School suddenly appeared in front of the van and passed very close to it. The van driver reportedly looked back at the car, following which he lost control of the vehicle.
The school van then crashed into the divider.
However, the exact circumstances leading to the accident have not yet been officially established and are subject to investigation.

Driver and Two Children Seriously Injured
The driver and two children reportedly suffered serious injuries in the accident and are undergoing treatment at Tata Motors Hospital. Other children sustained minor injuries, according to the initial information.
Police reached the spot and are expected to investigate the circumstances of the accident, including the condition of the road, the vehicle’s speed and the sequence of events immediately before the collision.
